In these challenging times our young people need Scouting more than ever and to enable this we rely on our amazing volunteers. Are you looking for a way to make a positive impact in your community, or perhaps looking at developing new skills and gain valuable experience? We've got a role for you! No matter how much time you can offer, we are excited to offer some great opportinities. We provide all the training allowing you thrive in your role. By volunteering with us you'll not only make a difference in the lives of others, but also gaining new skills, networking opportunities and a sense of fufilment and purpose.

RoleDescription        

District Administrator

Outline: To support the District in administerial duties including role recruitment, PVG's, reviews, leaving processes and awards. 

Open Volunteer Spots: 1

Responsible to: District Volunteer Development Team Lead

Main Contacts: Members of the Movemement, District Lead Volunteer Development Team, Group Lead Volunteers

Appointment Requirements: Module 1, Essential Information, GDPR, Safety and Safeguarding training are essential. (Full training & support is provided)

Main Tasks

- To support the District and our Groups in processing roles and accreditations on our membership management system

- To support the District and our Groups in processing PVG applications

- To process reviews carried out by Team Leads from across the District

- To support the District in any award nominations paperwork

- To support the District and our Groups in processing volunteers volunteers leaving the Scouts

The post holder will use a range of systems such as email, Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Teams, Scouts Membership Management System, District Website; the ideal candidate should have basic knowledge and IT skills.

West Region Safety Assurance Team

Outline: The West Region Safety Assurance Team aims to improve West Region's health & safety knowledge, promote positive culture and behaviours towards health & safety management through improved leadership, commitment, involvement, communication and capability. The team's objective aligns with the Scout Association's aim to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment, storage and practices concerning the health and safety of our volunteers and members.

Responsible to: Regional Safety Advisor (Chair)

Main Contacts: Regional Safety Advisor, other Representatives from the five Districts, District Lead Volunteer Development Team, Group Lead Volunteers, Members of the Movement

Appointment Requirements: The ideal candidate has a keen interest and desire to improve health and safety arragments in the Region & Districts. Some knowledge and experience of health and safety is desirable and a strong people skills, expressing thoughts / ideas & maintaining positive relationships.

Main Tasks

- Oversee compliance with health & safety legislation and Scout Association Safety Policy

- Develop and deliver an annual health & safety assurance strategy with the Board of Trustees

- Assess compliance with health & safety standards in the Region and Districts, recommending improvements where appropriate

- Conduct analysis such as (PESTEL & SWOT) to identify areas for enhancing health & safety capability

- Cascade safety information and best practices to Districts & Groups

The post holder will use a range of systems such as email, Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Teams, District Website; the ideal candidate should have basic knowledge and IT skills.

1st Rhu - Section Team Members

Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to try new things, make new friends and stand on their own two feet.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent.

Whatever your skill set, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in.

We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make new memories for life.

Outline: Join the Board of Trustees of 1st Renton Scout Group as a Chair and play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our organisation. As a Chair, you'll be responsible for leading our board meetings, ensuring effective decision-making, and providing guidance to our group.

Responsible to: District Chair

1st Renton - Treasurer

Outline: Join the Board of Trustees of 1st Renton Scout Group as a Treasurer to help shape the stragetic direction of our group. As a Treasurer, you'll be responsible for preparing and reviewing our fiancial statements, managing our budget, reimbursing, dealing with payments & ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main Contacts: Group Lead Volunteers, Trustees, Section Team Leaders, District Lead Volunteers

Appointment Requirements: The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of finances, ideally have previous experience with charity finances or is a qualifed accountant. Training and support is provided for the following if the sucessful applicant does not already hold the following: Module 1, Essential Information, GDPR, Safety and Safeguarding training are essential for undertaking this role.

Main Tasks:

- Prepare and review financial statements

- Keeping the accounts, ensuring an accurate record is held

- Manage the groups budget

- Handle reimbursments and payments

- Ensure compliance with charity regulations and Scouting policies

- Ensure that the group has appropriate insurance in place, for example to cover assets

1st Renton - Group Lead Volunteer

Outline: Being a Group Lead Volunteer is all about providing direction and support to develop your group. 

Responsible to: District Lead Volunteer Development Team

Main Contacts: Section Team Leaders, Section Team Members, Trustees

Appointment Requirements: PVG Module 1, Essential Information, GDPR, Safety and Safeguarding training are essential. (All training & support is provided)

Main Tasks:

- Ensure that all adult volunteers are adequately supported, including induction, training, review and development

- Provide guidance to the group and plan the future development of the sections that operate within

- Ensure compliance with charitable objectives and Scouting policies

- Collaborate with other volunteers within Dunbartonshire and the District team to enhance Scouting experiences. Giving support to district-level plans and maintaining effective communication on Group needs and issues.

- Resolve problems or disputes that occur within the group

- Support the delivery of a 'balanced programme' and ensure effective administration within the group

- Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and the Trustees regarding activities and resources required

Additional Info:   

The ideal condidate would possess strong communication skills and leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to motivate and inspire a team. The ability to stay organised, The post holder will use a range of digital systems such as email, Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Teams, District Website, Scout Membership System; the ideal candidate should have basic knowledge and IT skills.
