We would like to take this moment to highlight one of our amazing volunteers within Dunbartonshire. John Kitson, who volunteers at Kilpatrick Scout Group, has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to inclusion in Scouting. At an event held by West Region at the historic Paisley Abbey, he was presented with the British Empire Medal (King’s Honours List). This extremely prestigious accolade highlights John’s remarkable 50+ years of dedicated service to the movement & his fight to ensure inclusivity within our movement.

This momentous occasion was witnessed by friends, family and fellow Scouts from throughout the UK, Scotland, West Region, and various Districts. The ceremony was led by Lord Lieutenant Colonel Peter McCarthy who presented the honours on behalf of King Charles III, alongside our Regional Lead Volunteer, James Cumming.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all award recipients! We’re immensely proud of the positive impact each of you has made in Scouting and beyond.
